Big Island Lodging

Big Island has a number of conventional lodging opportunities, but it also has some family owned rentals that you can try. The best way to go would be to find the right property for you and your group and then check for a great rate somewhere.

Hawaiian Travel Bureau

You can find great discounts at Hawaii Travel Bureau for many of the best hotels and resorts. This is most probably the cheapest rates you will find for Hawaiian hotels anywhere. If you are going to be doing some island hopping, you will want to go here and see if you can find a good hotel on the other islands as well. However, be aware that there is a surcharge if you only stay in a place for one night, so you may want to stay two nights or more on each island you visit.

Hotels

Some of the best hotels can be found on the website listed above, but if you want some help choosing one, here are our choices.

• Hapuna Beach Prince Resort - This is a great five star hotel that offers great accommodations and is very affordable for a five star hotel. If you want to stay in the best of the best, this or the Hilton Resort would be it.
  
• Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort - This is, as Hawaii Travel Bureau suggests, the best value on Big Island. It is a great clean hotel (despite resort in its name) that will give you some really good amenities for the same price as the average hotel in the continental states. You can't beat it for the price.
  
• Castle Hilo Hawaiian - The reason someone would desire to stay in this hotel is the ocean view...and it is less than a hundred dollars a night on Hawaii Travel Bureau. The view for less than a hundred dollars a night is a steal.

Resorts

There are also some great resorts on Big Island, if you want to go to a resort, then you will want to go to either Hilton Waikoloa Village or Royal Kona Resort. The Hilton is a great five star water park resort, and the Royal Kona has a great view, but is also older and so it is a cheaper one. The price is a great value but you will have a little less modern accommodations. It is still good though, and the view is great. Pardon the pun, but of the four, I would use it as a last resort.
